#9 Liverpool Township. OHIO
Well we all make mistakes???????

2 days before i set off for Australia 3rd April 2007.

I find that i've missed an e.mail sent to me back in October 2006, I was staying in "East Liverpool Ohio", At the "Sturgis House"

The e.mail said " we saw the artical in the "Pittsburgh Gazett" about you visiting all the Liverpools in America,
will you be visiting "Liverpool Township"OHIO?????

Well I went to "Akron" to see "Abbey Road" a Beatles band and i asked everybody "Do you know of another Liverpool" around here?
We checked the "Sat Nav" and nothing came back so we assumed that it was a " Ghost Town" and no longer existed.
So the e.mail was a bit of a Surprise, I did a little more   research and discoverd its called " Valley City" Medina County, and that its the " Frog Jump" capital of the world,
and has been holding competition's for over 40 years.

OOOPPS, I had compleatly missed over 5000 people who live there and i was only 20 miles away in "Akron".
So to all the people of "Liverpool Township" Please accept my apologies for not calling.

                        BUT!
being a man of my word i shall visit for the "Frog Jump" competition this August 2007.

Click on the link, to visit the "Township" Web site.

Now i know WHY the other one is called "East Liverpool"?????

                          A Liverpool Connection

                              14 August 2007

On Friday, August 10th the Liverpool Zoning office got a visit from Phil Bimson and Chris Harvery who reside in Liverpool, England and are making a visit of all the townships and cities named Liverpool all over the globe. Phil has a website that has links to his travels, pictures, videos and other information related to the Liverpools they have visited.   He and Chris were inquiring as to the history of the township, the origin of the name and also noted would be here for the Frog Jump that was held August 12th in the Mill Stream Park.

Phil and Chris visited with Zoning Inspector Dave Rea, Zoning Secretary Theresa Scherry and Trustees Barb Mack and Kathy Keller.   He presented them with pins from the upcoming celebration of the founding of Liverpool, England in 1207.   They will celebrate their 800th Anniversary at the end of August.   We will celebrate our 200th in 2010, we have a way to go to catch up to that other Liverpool.   While their Liverpool is famous for Beatles, ours is famous for Frogs.

We look forward to his updating of his website with pictures and video from Liverpool Township (the last one he discovered, but that's another story) and to keeping in touch with us here in Valley City.

                                        Dave Rea.
